Architects without Borders is a humanitarian organisation who creates development using architecture and planning as tools.
Our aim is to support vulnerable and poor populations in the poorest countries. We create development projects related to architecture and planning, and promote information on combating poverty. We work to give all people access to decent living conditions.
We consist of more than 200 volunteer members from different professions. Most are architects, but still more professionals from other branches are welcomed into the organization.
We believe that decent living conditions are a basic human right and that it can be promoted by holistic approaches and by integrating both technical, social and aesthetic aspects of construction and planning.
We provide advice in the fields of planning and architecture to civil society to and organizations that do not normally have access to these services. We take co-responsibility for the development of the building and planning profession in a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable way.
In addition, we create opportunities for experience and knowledge building among architects in Denmark, so that skills can be built for the benefit of our business partners, and for those in the Danish architectural profession that works globally.
Architects without Borders DK was founded in 2008 as the Danish branch of the international organization Architecture Sans Frontières International (ASF International). We are thus part of an international network with “The Hasselt Charter“ as our common set of values and guidelines.
Architects Without Borders Denmark is a registered organization. Links to articles of association, annual reports, etc. is found here:
