DUE TO THE RISK OF SPREADING THE CORONA VIRUS, THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED. WE HOPE TO FIND A NEW DATE ONCE EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL. UNTIL THEN, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES AND YOUR LOVED ONES ♥
We’re proud to welcome architect Nabeel Hamdi as our guest and speaker at Evening Without Borders #7!
Nabeel Hamdi has extensive experience with informal settlements and is a pioneer in the field of participatory planning. He is an advocate for small, gradual changes in the urban environment that benefit the poor, rather than large-scale projects that often fail to create real positive change. He is currently professor emeritus of Housing and Urban Development of the Oxford Brooks University in Oxford, where he founded a program on Development Practice in 1992.
Nabeel Hamdi has consulted on housing, participatory action planning and upgrading of slums in cities to all major international development agencies, and to charities and NGOs worldwide. He is most famously the author of The Placemakers Guide to Building Community (Earthscan 2010), Small Change (Earthscan, 2004), Housing Without Houses (IT Publications, 1995) and recently The Spacemakers’s guide to big Change (Earthscan, 2014). We look forward to welcoming Nabeel Hamdi as our guest and to having interesting discussions about the role of architecture in development work.
Evenning Without Borders #7: A simulated street walk with Nabeel Hamdi will take place on Friday March 27th, at Fælledvej 12, 2200 København Ø. The event will he held in English and the entrance is free. Programme:
